The Show Hood is a fantastic product for keeping your horse or pony clean and pristine prior to competition, or for keeping the chill off on the cool summer evenings.
The Show Hood is made in high quality Italian Nylon Lycra and uses a technical type of Lycra, called Xtra-Life Lycra. Our Show Hood contains a small amount of compression qualities within the fabric, this helps the product stay in place on your horse when in use. The fabric used is very similar to premium swimwear material and has many benefits over less expensive Nylon Elastane fabric, it’s natural characteristics mean that it is resistant to Sweat and Oils, helps protect from UV rays in the sun, is quick drying, does not degrade as quickly as less expensive fabrics and retains it colour well (and is also Chlorine resistant should you want to take your horse or pony for a dip in the pool !!). Xtra-Life Lycra lasts upto 10 times longer than conventional Lycra and has superior qualities in terms of it’s resistance to break down and shape retention.
The Show Hood product is bound all of the way around the edges to help retain its shape, and the eyes, ears and nose areas are bound too, also helping retain shape and preventing slippage, or ovalling of the eye holes, helping prevent the hood move over the horse or pony’s eyes. The under-tummy band and through the front legs Elastic holds the Show Hood in place.
Whilst the Show Hood is not water-proof, the qualities of the fabric do prevent mud and pooh passing through which helps keep your horse or pony clean when prepared for competition, the slight compression will help hold plaits in place and the qualities of the compression and will help make the coat shiny.
A Show Hood is simple to put on and take off, simply draw the head and neck up like you would a pair of tights onto your hands and with your back to your horse, simply slip the Honsie over its face and head and along its body.
